Competences and ratings
How feedback works, and how to read it.
Competence scales
A competence scale is the framework your practice is assessed against. Choose it when you start a session:
- UCL PWP Assessment / Treatment Competence Scale — for PWP trainees.
- CTS-R — for other CBT courses.
Getting a rating
Open the Competences tab and tap Star or Rating. You can request a rating at any point, for any individual competence, as often as you like.
Reading your feedback
Each rating covers one competence and includes reasoning drawn from what you actually said in the session. Read the reasoning, not just the score — that is where the learning is.
Feedback is experimental
AI competence feedback can be inaccurate. Treat it as a prompt for reflection rather than an assessment. Apply your clinical judgement, disagree with it when it is wrong, and take anything that concerns you to your tutor or supervisor. Ratings in CBT Trainer are not part of your course assessment.
Tracking progress
Your ratings accumulate across sessions so you can see which competences are developing and which need deliberate practice.
